Stratford rower Camilla Hadland has been selected to represent GB in the World Junior Rowing Championships.

The 17-year-old Stratford High A-level student has trained tirelessly for the past 18 months to achieve her goal and will travel to Prague in the Czech Republic next month to compete.

Camilla’s crew of 8 (plus the cox) hail from different Midlands rowing clubs and have been taking part in some pretty intensive training.

In order to row long distances of water, which are not available at Stratford, Camilla has been travelling to Gloucester Rowing Club, sometimes three times a week.

In addition to spending as much time as possible on the water, her schedule also includes a programme of body strengthening and conditioning, weight training, work on rowing machine all whilst keeping an eye on her nutrition.

In the past 6 months Camilla and her crew have attended several training camps in England and France as well as winning Henley Women’s Regatta and the Indoor Rowing Championships and Metropolitan Regatta.

Camilla has been backed by a host of people and would like to take this opportunity to thank her support team.

These include Stratford Boat Club coaches David Brookes and Andrew Roe, high performance coach, Arran O’Dell, local companies Motus Fitness and Athletic Mind, plus the staff at Stratford High School.

Camilla will be spending the next three weeks training with the rest of her crew at venues in Oxford, Chester and Caversham.
