Categories of membership
Junior both boys and girls from about 11 years upwards to 18. We don’t specify a minimum age since it depends on the individual’s physique and an ability to swim the minimum requirement set out in the Water Safety Code of Practice (a minimum of 100m in light clothing and shoes) as well as a degree of maturity.
Senior (men and women). From the age of 19 upwards. Physical ability and technical expertise will determine the standard you could reach. Physically challenged persons are not precluded from the sport. As with the Juniors, you are required to be able to swim the minimum requirement (see above).
Veteran rowers over the age of 30 (and there are quite a few of us!). For the purpose of competition, status is broken down into age bands of approximately 5 years. The purpose of this is that one races against people in the same age range.
Coxswains can be of any age but at least 10 years of age. There is no upper age limit the deciding factor is, of course, weight.
Social these members have full use of the Club facilities with the exception of being able to use boats.
Visitors members are entitled to introduce visitors to the Club on social occasions, on no more than 12 times in any one year, providing they are signed into the Visitor’s Book, located at the Bar. The Club welcomes visitors at any time but it is the responsibility of the member to ensure that their visitors behave in a correct and proper manner
